DIFFERENT PEOPLE DIFFERENT RULES

Different sets of people are guided and ruled differently, based on their state. For instance, you cannot govern prisoners by the same set of rules as you’d govern or guide free people. If you apply the same set of rules, though they are both human persons, things would be messed up. The same is true for the new creature and the natural person:


1st Timothy 1 verse 8

But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully.


The Bible states here clearly that the law is good and would accomplish its purpose, if only it is used appropriately or lawfully. What is the lawful use of the law? It is if it is used for the ones that it is designed for, as The Message translation aptly puts it:


1st Timothy 1 verse 8

It's true that moral guidance and counsel need to be given, but the way you say it and to whom you say it are as important as what you say.


For whom is the law or these moral codes intended? Certainly not for the new creature, because it says, you can only appropriately use the law, ‘Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners… and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine. Before Christ, you might have been like this, but having come to Christ, you are a new creature, created in righteousness:


1st Corinthians 6 verses 9 to 11

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. AND SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

What kind of people cannot inherit the Kingdom of God?

If one says, ‘such were you’; what does that mean? Does it mean you are still that way?

It says you are washed, sanctified and justified. Who did the washing, sanctifying and justifying? Was it a result of your good behaviour or fasting?


Once, you might have been a thief, a profane person, and a fornicator, but NOW, you are washed, you are sanctified, you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of God.


To be washed means you are clean. To be sanctified is to be set apart for holy use. That means you are set apart by God for holy purposes.


To be justified means to be declared right, like you never did anything wrong. This is amazing! If you don’t recognize this, you would still live as though you are an individual that God is trying to make right.


While the normal human person may be guided by a life of trying to do right and please God, the new creature is made right before God, being created in true holiness and righteousness:


Ephesians 4 verse 24

And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.


So, by what law is the new creature governed, or what law governs the life of the new creature, and, therefore, what determines his outcome? The Bible lets us know that the law guiding the outcome of the new creature is the law of liberty:


James 2 verse 12

So, speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.


You are to conduct your life as one whose outcome would be determined by the law of liberty, not as one that God is trying to make right.


The way a son in the house conducts himself is not the same way a help in the house conducts herself. The Lord is saying, conduct yourself as a son in the house, that is what would determine your outcome.


What is the law of liberty? The law of liberty is the law of knowing who you are, living by it, and having its outcome. You need to know that you are washed; know that you are sanctified; know that you are justified and made right by God, and live your life that way.


Don’t live with a sense of guilt, condemnation, and failure, because you have been made this way. The Bible says, He that knew no sin, was MADE SIN for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus

 (2nd Corinthians 5 verse 21). Jesus did not commit sin, but was MADE sin by God.


So, also, we did not commit righteousness, but we have now been MADE righteous by God. Therefore, we are to speak and act this way, as that is what would determine our outcome.


This is another way of saying take your identity from what God says, and govern your life by it. This is how you live in victory. May you always keep before your eyes what God has made you. Amen!!!

Father, I thank You because I am no longer a sinner, but I am washed, I am sanctified and I am justified, by Your Spirit and in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!!!
